Hello, fellow art lovers! My name is Mark Muloski and I am a watercolor artist and caricaturist. Art has been a part of my soul for as long as I can remember. When I was a young child, comic strips inspired me to start sketching. I then found myself drawn to the challenge of recreating interesting faces from the TV Guide Magazine.
I’ve dabbled in various styles throughout the years, but once I learned watercolor, I knew I was home. Geniuses such as Vincent Van Gogh and Mary Cassatt always captivated me with their sheer compositional brilliance, creating an entire atmosphere with one painting. Other masters like John Singer Sargent, Charles Reid, and Mary Whyte put a spell on me with their special talents of working with watercolor.
Regarding my style, I find that inspiration is sparked by a wide variety of subject matter. My artistic voice seems to come from a place of intimate and tender appreciation for the subject I’m painting. Whether it’s a music legend, an animal, or the face of a stranger, I always strive to capture a vulnerably authentic moment in time for the subject. My stylistic trademark is my love for allowing pieces of raw, unpainted canvas to peek thru parts of the painting. I feel like this creates pops of visual interest that make each piece feel more alive.
My mentor, Lenox Wallace, trained me well and challenged my artistic boundaries, helping me mold my style into one that perfectly represents how I see and experience the world. My hope is that each viewer can find something in my paintings that they connect to. Beauty is all around us, even in the smallest things, and I always strive to respect and represent that beauty to the best of my abilities.
Thank you for viewing my work!
